Pallet jacks (also called walkie pallet jacks, WPJs, or pump trucks) are the most common pallet-handling device in food retail, beverage distribution, restaurant supply, and 3PL pick operations. Manual pallet jacks use hydraulic pumps; electric pallet jacks add battery power. Major manufacturers: Crown WP, Toyota 8HBW, Hyster W, Raymond 8210. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178 governs operator certification for powered pallet jacks. Hand pallet jacks generally don't require certification.
