Get a Price →A pallet inverter is a machine that clamps a palletized load and rotates it, typically 180 degrees, so the original pallet can be removed and replaced. It is used to swap wood pallets for plastic in hygiene zones, replace damaged pallets, recover loads and transfer goods onto export or customer-specific pallets.
The load is placed in the machine between two platens. A new pallet may be placed on top. The machine clamps the stack, rotates it, and the old pallet, now on top, is lifted off. Some designs, called pallet changers or pallet exchangers, swap the pallet without fully inverting the load by squeezing or lifting it.
Food and pharmaceutical plants use inverters to move inbound goods from wood pallets onto plastic pallets or sanitary pallets before entering clean areas. Warehouses use them to replace broken pallets, to move product off pool pallets that must be returned, and to put goods onto ISPM-15 export pallets.
Inversion is not suitable for every product. Liquids, fragile items and loads that cannot be turned upside down need a pallet changer instead. Loads should be stable and well wrapped, and the machine must match the load height and weight range.
An inverter makes sense when loads regularly need to move onto a different pallet: wood to plastic at a hygiene barrier, pool to owned pallets before return, damaged to sound pallets, or domestic to ISPM-15 pallets for export. If this happens only occasionally, manual restacking may be cheaper. Frequent swaps, heavy loads and ergonomic risk are the usual reasons sites invest in one.
No. Products that leak, crush or must stay upright, such as open containers, some liquids and fragile goods, should use a pallet changer that lifts or squeezes the load without turning it over. Loads also need to be stable and well wrapped so layers do not shift during rotation. Check product orientation rules before inverting.
